Synopsis
Television adaptation of Victor Hugo’s classic novel which follows Jean Valjean as he evades capture by the unyielding Inspector Javert. Set against a backdrop of post-Napoleonic France as unrest begins to grip the city of Paris once more.

Bio Director
Thomas Otto Shankland (born 7 May 1968) is an English film and television director and screenwriter. He is known for directing the films ‘WΔZ’ (2007) and ‘The Children’ (2008), and television series such as ‘The Fades’ (2011), ‘Ripper Street’ (2012), and ‘The Missing’ (2014); for the latter, he was nominated for the 2015 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a ‘Dramatic Special’. He has also been nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Short Film twice, for ‘Bait’ (1999) and ‘Going Down’ (2000).
